it’s summer in melbourne,
a vibrant time and colors that shine,
glowing greens and yellow serene,
a bright blue sky
reflects in my eye
peaceful and eclectic,
the city electric
tennis is in the air,
bringing new people
from everywhere
the summer day turns grey,
a chilly breeze brings refreshing
rains our way
the courts become mirrors,
reflections of neon lights,
dampening the day,
but you don’t change your way.
you’re skipping, you’re dancing,
your way is entrancing,
i want to run up and say,
you’re making my day.
morning magic and banana bread,
afternoons on the Yarra,
i paint my nails blue,
still thinking of you.
i search in my bag,
a game of shy tag,
i search for my moment,
my world being opened.
i bring myself to you
with a simple tattoo,
a gift–hope she takes it!
i’m standing here naked.
new beginnings, a warm smile,
i read her for a while,
the future always uncertain,
but at least now we’ve
opened the curtain.
